HW1 Basic Shapes Syd Mead

For this assignment, I recreated the structure of an object from one of Syd Mead's work. The objective was to study the form of the object by deconstructing it into basic shapes. Here is the reference picture that I used for my drawing. I thought the design was interesting and the way the checkered bit on the vehicle curved towards the front made for a neat study in lighting as well.

First, I blocked in the overall shape so I can get a good idea of the structure I'm working with.

Then I went into mapping out each individual shape on the vehicle. I also sketched in some minor details so it would help me get a better idea of proportions.

At this point, I started blocking in the values to make the forms and shapes more visible in the drawing.

I blocked in some more details, added some lighting and pushed the shading for the final result.
